This set of chairs was commissioned with an Asian feel so I made my trademark octagonal tapered legs to taper thinner at the bottom and decided to use no stretchers to lighten the look. This is perfectly strong as I use a wedged tapered leg joint, in fact the original Windsor chairs were all free of stretchers and many are still in use hundreds of years later.
